Sleep Disorders & what a Sleep Study can diagnose?

If your sleep is being obstructed, you should consider getting a sleep study done to diagnose any existing conditions that may be hindering your sleep and health. A sleep study is the first step for anyone who is struggling with their sleep. A sleep study can diagnose:

  • Insomnia

  • Sleep Apnea (snoring)

  • Narcolepsy

  • Restless Legs Syndrome

  • Sleepwalking and Sleep Talking

If you're worried or curious about your own sleep patterns, you can do this quick OSA sleep quiz to gain more information.

Do you need A Referral for a Sleep Study?

The first step is to have the sleep study authorised by a doctor; this can be done by speaking to your doctor of your concerns and be referred onto us. You will need a referral from your doctor to partake in the L2 PSG At-Home Sleep Study must meet Medicare requirements.

A Patient Funded Sleep Study is $301.30 when the patient does not meet the Medicare requirements.

L3 Sleep Apnoea Screen records your breathing activity, oxygen levels, and heart rate throughout the course of the night. Based on this activity, a level 3 sleep study tests your snoring and airflow and diagnoses if you have obstructive sleep apnoea. This is patient funded costing $150.00

What is a Sleep Study

A sleep study allows doctors or medical practitioners to monitor your sleeping habits while you are sound asleep. This non-invasive, overnight exam involves either a sleep laboratory, at a hospital or sleep centre, or an at home based examination. During a sleep study, disruptions to a patient's sleep will be noted including eye movements, blood oxygen levels, breathing and heart rates, snoring and body movements.
