WHAT DO I NEED TO HAVE A SLEEP STUDY?
A referral is required from your GP to the Katherine Sleep Centre for a sleep study. We will then contact you for an appointment or you may contact us on (08) 8971 557.
You will be fitted with the device at this appointment and then go home to sleep in your own bed, returning the device in the morning to be downloaded and sent off for scoring.
Within a two week period you will be contacted for an appointment with a Sleep Physician to go through the results of your sleep study and if required, treatment options will be discussed.
HOW MUCH WILL THE SLEEP STUDY COST?
In most cases your Level 2 PSG Medicare Approved Sleep Study will have no out of pocket fees. You must comply with Medicare Approved Assessment Conditions to be eligible.
WHAT IF I DO NOT MEET THE MEDICARE APPROVED CONDITIONS?
We can proceed with a Patient Funded Level 2 Sleep Study if you do not meet the Medicare requirements. This will incur an out of pocket amount. The cost of a L2 At-Home Sleep Study is $301.30
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT ON THE AFTERNOON OF THE SLEEP STUDY?
On the afternoon of your Sleep Study we will ask you to present to the clinic fully showered with loose fitting clothing. 10 electrodes are fitted to the face, 3 on the torso and 2 on the legs. We ask that you avoid moisturisers or body oils as these can cause the electrodes not to stick to the area successfully. Please not that adhesive tape is used to secure the electrodes.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
If your Final Report from the reporting Physician comes back that your are recommended for a CPAP Trial. We will set you up with a CPAP Machine and trial 2 masks over 3 to 4 weeks and monitor you weekly. We will take the time to fit you with a CPAP mask suitable to your needs and download your recordable data to ensure you are receiving the therapy you need. A CPAP Trial starts from $300.
